Yowza

This movie

is not what it appears to be. At all.

Though gorgeously rendered in eye-popping detail, I could not get beyond one simple fact: this was the most depressing & disturbing kid's movie I've seen in...well...ever. Monster House runs a modest second. Wait. Forget kid's movie. Change that to ANY movie. What makes it so awful? How about kidnapping, torture, slavery, war, and genocide. I swear that 15 minutes into the film I was just about ready to open a vein.

SO BEWARE.

I saw a trailer for this a few months ago and thought it was definitely NOT a kids' movie. Filmmakers (and many parents) seem to think that putting talking animals in a movie automatically makes it suitable for small children, regardless of how violent the content is.

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that one. Thanks for the warning.
